Open Streets Volunteering

Open Streets is not possible without the support of awesome volunteers – like you! On the day of events there are a variety of positions and shifts are short. Come out, support your community, meet, mingle, and enjoy the event. When we’re ready to accept new day-of-event volunteers we’ll update this page and post on our Facebook page.

If you’re interested in more of the behind the scenes work and want to get involved year-round, please email info@openstreetsbloomington.com

Here is a brief description of the different positions for the day of an Open Streets event:

Please save the date for a volunteer meeting on TBD. Attendance is not required to volunteer, but it’s always a good time! New volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend.

  • Set Up Crew – We need some help setting up tables, chairs, barricades and other items to make sure this event runs smoothly! Some light but not strenuous lifting will occur.
  • Roaming Ambassadors – These individuals will keep the energy going throughout the open streets event. These folks will be tasked with running around and filling in on various tasks. This position is excellent for high-energy folks who just want to help out. These volunteers will also be ready to answer general questions (restrooms, trash, events) as well as be one of the first faces that event goers will meet.
  • Tear Down Crew – These folks will help tearing down tables, chairs, barricades and other items to make sure we’re off the street quickly. Some light but not strenuous lifting will occur.
  • Photographers – Just like the name says! We’d like to document the event by having volunteers roam with their own cameras/phones taking fun pictures and videos of people having fun in the streets! We’d love for you to then share your photos with us to use in the future. Photo credits will be given where photo credits are due.
